Kate Hudson can roll her stockings down anytime!

I'm not one for spoilers, like ever, but sometimes there are exceptions. This exception comes in the form of Glee, Kate Hudson, and an all time favorite song of mine, "All That Jazz." When I read that Kate Hudson's character and Lea Michele's character were going to go head to head with that song, I squealed. So what was I to do when I stumbled upon the full clip today? Be a good girl and wait till Thursday night to watch it in context of the storyline or say 'to hell with context.  It's All That Jazz! Hello!' We all can guess what I did. I watched it. Then I watched it again. And again.
Check it out below or don't. It's up to you. If you don't watch Glee then WATCH it. Reason? Kate Hudson. Kate has been the shining light on an otherwise weird transitional season. In fact, I would love a spin off with Rachel Berry, Kurt, and Kate Hudson. Oh that would be joyous.

 

Let's compare, shall we? X Factor vs The Voice and Who sings Katy Perry better than Katy Perry

I've finally got caught up on the extravaganza that is The Voice and X factor. I watched The Voice first, fast forwarded most of it. I watched X Factor next and didn't fast forward much at all. That alone should tell me which show I'm enjoying more. But I won't let my trigger happy fast forward finger do the talking, I'll let the singing make my decisions, and maybe yours too.

I generally ripped apart episode of 1 of American Horror Story, now for episode two, I'm, uh, just blah.
It didn't annoy me as much as the first episode, but the number one thing missing: being scared.
Let's venture back to the man in the rubber suit. Weren't we all a little scared and yet so intrigued by him? Now we have James Cromwell as a demented Dr./scientist that probably gets his knickers off to bounding and killing women. Where's the intrigue in that? And for me, there was nothing scary about his overtness. But I did get a giggle by the way he held his junk. It seemed so forced, pun intended. 
Good point: I enjoyed the demon possession and getting a little back story on the ever so bitchy Sister Jude. I even more enjoyed the transfer of the demon to the ever so lovely virgin nun. AND I will enjoy watching that demon torment James Cromwell using the innocent flesh of a virgin to hopefully bring out his beast for the world to see. All in all, I still have hope, but it's still no Season 1. 
Oh the comparisons we have to live up to. Sucks for you Murphy. Remember season 1 of Nip/Tuck? yep! And then it all went down hill. And even with Glee, season 1 soared, and the following seasons are still trying to live up that. Is Ryan Murphy great at just season 1 shows? That's my question to you, my dear readers. Is Ryan Murphy like champagne? Drink it all quickly, cause it soon will go flat.

Blayne and Brother do it better.

Two week long work trip and then moving into a new place has kept me from fun things, like, TV watching, blogging, movie viewing. But watch out Bitches, I'm back. (I mean bitches as the most sincere sentiment). Also, I'm still reeling from the finale of Pretty Little Liars. If you watch the show, then you know they use the words Bitches a lot. And sometimes, I like to pretend I'm A. Moving on.


First, my new place is awesome. I will be excited to be fully unpacked and party ready. I will post pictures soon.

Second, I was able to catch up on some shows last night. I still have a plethora of viewing, but for now, lets talk....
Good Christian Bitches (GCB). I was utterly disappointed with the latest episode. It was over the top, even for the campy soapy show that it is. The character Crickett is fastly climbing the ladder of most awesome characters. LOVE her.

Smash. I can not express enough times how in love I am with this show. I'm always angry when it ends. STOP ending! Just keep playing their lives all day and then pause for me to sleep. 

Lastly, Glee. Glee has been on its month long hiatus. And it came back in the form of Blayne's brother. Whoa! That boy is hot and can sing. I'd like a miniature version of him on my night stand and I'd click a little switch and a recorded version of Somebody that I used to know would play over and over.
Speaking of that song. I don't listen to the radio or watch MTV or any other music viewing station, so I'm new to this song. However, before hearing Glee's version of the song, I had recently become obsessed with the original. Then Blayne and his brother sang it and, shhhhh, I like their version better. They added a power to the song that doesn't exist in the original. 
For those of you that live in a cave and have never heard the original (my parents) I'm giving you a side by side (or top on top). Compare it yourself. I dare you to tell me I'm wrong.

I need to throw up a little Glee

I'm about to talk about last night's episode of Glee. If you have not watched it yet, then stop reading now.
SPOILERS ahead.

The episode was filled with so much sugar that it made me a little nauseous. This first half of season 3 has had its up and downs for me. Mostly ups. But this episode....
Let's start with why New Directions won over the other two glee clubs.
Ready.
New Directions sang 3 songs to the others 1 song. Makes no sense. 
Mike Chang's father finally sees his sons potential through those performances and miraculously changes his point of view, allowing his child to pursue his dream. Very Hallmark moment. Barf moment. That story line has repeatedly made me tear up and then they go and wrap it up so nice and tidy and blah blah blah....
Quinn finally showed some singing sass with the opening of Janet Jackson's Control, but then only sang back up. Lame. If that song is to represent her change, then let her damn well sing it. 
The ending was a bad Fame moment of hugging and laughing and singing, which generally I love, but this felt strangely forced and like an over sweetened chocolate pie that is inedible. 
There is another episode before Christmas break, but damn it, it's a Christmas episode. I'm sure only Christmas songs will be sang and I'm sorry world, not a huge fan of Christmas songs. 
All in all, I was left unsatisfied and feeling guilty, and not the kinda of lovely guilt that accompanies such programs as Gossip Girl. (Which, bravo GG, you are rocking this season out! Love you)

Anybody else feeling a little empty from last night's episode?

The First Time : Glee edition

Last night was the episode I have been waiting for....
Take notice TV world cause these are the ingredients needed for a good TV episode:
1. Beautiful people with amazing voices singing my favorite songs from West Side Story. (ie A Boy Like That & America)
2. Sex.
3. A group of hot guys singing any Billy Joel.

I could nit pick Glee's episode to death with aspects I didn't like or opportunities missed, etc. But why? The ingredients listed above make perfect happiness. No need to ask for something I will never get (Officer Krupke!!!!!). Just be happy. And I am. You should be too.
Plus, Lea Michelle was made to play Maria. What a voice. 
2 thumbs up and satisfied.

Holy Shit!!!!!!! This tuesday's episode (Nov. 8) of Glee is answering all my Glee prayers!

Remember when I begged to the internet Gods and Ryan Murphy to make sure Santana (Naya Rivera) sang America? AND I dreamed of A Boy Like That performance? NO?!!!? Refresh yourself HERE!

Well....it's all happening! This Tuesday night! 
Ryan Murphy MUST have been reading my blog ;) and demanded that these songs happen. I feel unbelievably blessed that he listens so well. (Now, make Quinn dye her hair back to pink and have her sing a Pink song!)
The happier news is that I have found the songs :) Yes, you can listen now!
Granted, Santana is NO Rita Moreno, but she holds her own. I truly believe it will be even better when we can see her perform!

Mindy's Summer TV Awards

Fall TV is in full swing, putting an end to Summer's line up. Here's a quick recap of my favorite Summer 2011 TV programming. (There are a few gems :))

Award for Most Pleasantly Surprised: Awkward. (MTV)
         This show came out of no where and it pleased me so. This witty, clever, high school comedy won my heart and generated a lot of giggles. Imagine: 
Clueless + Can't Hardly Wait + Juno + My So Called Life = Awkward.

Award for OMG Reality TV Moment: Dance Moms (Lifetime)
If ya like dance AND reality TV, then this reality show is for you. And it was NEVER short on drama. Here's one of my favorite OMG moments:
I so hope I get a season 2. And 3. And 8. 

Award for Biggest Crying Moment: The Big C (Showtime)
 The finale had me sobbing. I don't like spoilers, so if you haven't watched or are not caught up on this show, no worries, I won't ruin anything.

Award for Best Finale to Set Up a Movie: Entourage (HBO)
Ari Gold = One of the best TV Male Characters ever. Who knew that there would be such growth and depth and sometimes warmth nestled inside such an ass. The movie better happen cause I sure will miss me some Ari. 

Award for Best Sex on TV: True Blood (HBO)
Damn good season. So much hot man on this show. Wow. Thanks Alan Ball. 

Honorable Mention Summer Smash Hits:
The Glee Project: So much singing! And some drag? Sold.

Platinum Hit (Bravo): Again, so much singing! I loved, loved, loved this show. It's a competition about song writing. Hello! Genius. I really hope this gets a 2nd season too. And props to Jewel who was a very lovely host. 

Big Brother (CBS): I'm a crack addict for this show. And this season was GREAT!

Glee : The comeback!

Last night's episode of Glee was like having a prayer answered. It's like Ryan Murphy read my last blog post  and then fixed all the problems. (expect Quinn, but everything else is so on course that I will officially forgive the Quinn debacle).
1. Every song made sense to each scene and each character. The songs forwarded the story line. This is most important.
2. They sang in the hallways :) And in the gym. Thanks Brittany for your Run the World (Girls) performance!
3. Mike Chang gave a great rendition of Cool from West Side Story.
4. Santana came back and will be Anita in the West Side Story production :) I better get to hear her sing at least one Anita song!
5. Everything Mercedes rocked. The Dreamgirls fantasy sequence was pure musical theater heaven. I WANT more of that.
6. Fix You. Mr. Shue pulled off Coldplay for the finale. I teared up.


Thank you Ryan Murphy for bringing glee back to Glee. Please keep it rolling....

Damn you, Ryan Murphy!!!

All I wanted out of Glee was for Quinn to keep the pink hair. Or at least sing some kick ass song while sporting a nose ring and pink hair. Remember This? NEITHER happened! Damn you, Damn you, Damn you. 


Luckily, Kurt's BF sang Something's Coming, an all time favorite song from West Side Story. This was redeeming for me. And of course to see/hear Rachel Berry and her mom (the lovely Idina Menzel) sing is always a welcomed pleasure. 
But where the HELL did Santana go? She should be singing the greatest song from West Side Story, America! 

Come on Ryan Murphy! Where's the spontaneity of singing in the hallways, without autotune?  Two episodes in season 3 and I just feel 'eh' about it all. 

I do hope the West Side Story side story continues and they get a chance to sing every freakin' song, including Gee, Officer Krupke. 
Please don't fail me. Make my heart soar! 
Make Santana sing,
   " A boy like that who'd kill your brother,
            Forget that boy and find another,
            One of your own kind,
            Stick to your own kind! "


If pink hair on Quinn is out, then my new stance, my new passionate NEED, is to cast Santana in the West Side Story musical as  Anita!

Ryan Murphy? Are you there? It's me, Mindy. Please make my dreams come true. Amen.

GLEE! (with Pink hair)

My thoughts on Glee's Season 3 return:


Keep Quinn a badass. Don't change the hair. Repeat: DON'T change the hair. Give her some Tori Amos, circa Little Earthquakes, and let her be awesome.

Everything else was kinda the same. Not bad. Not Fantastical! Just straight up Glee!
